About Erol Batırbek
Born in 1955, in Turkey, Erol Batırbek is a distinguished painter whose artistic practice spans more than four decades. Educated at the Department of Art Education at Ankara Gazi Education Institute, from which he graduated in 1979, Batırbek has dedicated his life to both artistic production and arts education.
For over forty years (1982–2023), he served as a faculty member at the Department of Fine Arts Education at Gazi University, contributing to generations of artists and educators while continuously developing his own visual language.
Batırbek is a member of several prominent professional art organizations, including the Association of Plastic Artists and the United Painters and Sculptors Association. His works are held in the collections of major public institutions such as the Turkish Ministry of Culture and the State Museum of Painting and Sculpture, as well as numerous private collections in Turkey and abroad.
Throughout his career, he has presented 24 solo exhibitions, including exhibitions outside Turkey, and participated in more than 400 national and international group exhibitions. His practice reflects a sustained engagement with painting as a means of exploring memory, place, culture, and the expressive possibilities of color and form.
Today, Erol Batırbek continues to be recognized as a significant figure in contemporary Turkish painting, with a body of work that bridges artistic inquiry, cultural heritage, and a lifelong commitment to visual expression.
